Trivia[]
- The dub of the episode was also premiered at San Diego Comic Con as part of the Adult Swim on the Green Tour.
- After arriving at school, Mossan offers Kana some fugashi, a Japanese snack food made from dried wheat gluten and coated in brown sugar glaze.[1]
- During their lunch break, Hijiri can be seen eating from a box labeled "KelorieNate Block", which is a parody version of the Japanese snack food, CalorieMate.
- After Pets jokingly said that Kana is an average student and not athletic, she tries to defend herself by mentioning the manga series, The Ping Pong Club.
- At one point, Hijiri tells the group that she wants to either be married to a professional baseball player or be the second wife to a CEO of a fashion company. Mossan then asks her if she is Saeko, before Hijiri says that she is.
- Saeko is a Japanese model and actress, who was known for marrying professional baseball player, Yu Darvish in 2007.
- In the English dub, Hijiri's line is changed, where she tells her friends that she wants to marry rich, and will choose either a basketball player or a famous rapper, with Mossan then asking her if she is a Kardashian.
- The dialogue is a reference to Kim Kardashian, an American socialite and businesswoman, who was previously married to NBA player Kris Humphries before marrying rapper Kanye West.
- Kana mentions that she would like a talking cat to appear in front of her and give her a magical wand. This is a likely reference to Luna and the Moon Stick from the anime and manga series, Sailor Moon.
- After the red pepper spilled into Kanda's bowl of soba noodles, he tells Kana that the dish looks more like Mars than the moon.
- The dish that Kanda ordered is called "tsukumi-soba", which literally translates as "Moon-viewing soba", as it is often associated with Tsukimi or "Moon Viewing festival". It typically consists of hot buckwheat noodles in broth topped with a raw egg that poaches in the broth and is said to represent the moon.
- In the English dub, Kana referred to the dish as "Moon Over My Soba", while the English subtitles call it "Full Moon Soba".
- One of the stores that the girls visit, DADISO, is a reference to the Japanese discount store, Daiso.
- Throughout the episode, the soda brand, Dr Pepper is mentioned and shown.
