About the Anime[]
These 6 episodes are sequels to the original anime.[1] The series centers on the misadventures of 17-year-old Kana, a high school junior who spends her days hanging out with her besties, Mossan, Hijiri, and Pets in the city of Tsuganei. They live unremarkable lives, until the day a Mecha falls out of the sky, along with a strange woman named “Haruko.” Haruko's mission: Awaken Kana's N.O. channel, and take out Medical Mechanica, or else the Earth will be flattened by their irons once and for all!
Production[]
As with FLCL Progressive, studio GAINAX was no longer involved with the series; instead, Production I.G. USA and and Williams Street (Adult Swim's animation production arm) took charge of production for the new seasons. Alternative was worked on at the same time as Progressive.
The director for this season was Yutaka Uemura, who had previous worked on Saga of Tanya the Evil and several GAINAX anime such as Gurren Lagann and Mahoromatic. He would later direct FLCL: Shoegaze.
