Akie Araishu (洗朱・アキエ?, Araishu Akie) is a minor character in the fifth season, FLCL: Shoegaze. She is the older sister of Harumi Araishu on Earth.
Profile[]
Following the events of "Full Flat" in FLCL Alternative, the male version of Harumi, who had arrived on Mars with his sister Natsuki and parents is caught in a time-space rift caused by Kana Koumoto.
He then found himself back on Earth, but now in the body of a girl waiting outside of a candy shop. Akie comes out and begins to tease her younger sister by bragging that she will be eating the natto and cream of corn flavored umaibo (corn puff stick). As the frightened and confused Harumi tries to understand what just happened, Akie gives her little sister a strange look and points out that they are at the candy shop because Harumi wanted a ramune before telling her that they need to hurry back home.
10 years later, prior to the main storyline, as Harumi puts the final touches on her school uniform and makeup before the first day of school, Akie is heard arguing with their parents about Harumi's odd fashion choice. Akie tells them that it would be embarrassing if people saw her and Harumi walking to school together. But their father simply laughs it off and tells her that Harumi is just expressing herself and trying to be unique.

She has black hair, styled as a short bob and wore a teal green hoodie, a grey t-shirt and dark blue shorts, along with bluish-grey semi-rimless glasses. In the timeskip, she is shown wearing the same high school uniform as Harumi, but with a green bowtie. She still wears the same semi-rimless glasses, but now has noticeably longer hair.

- Akie's Japanese voice actress, Sumire Morohoshi, is also the voice of Natsuki, Harumi's sister in the alternate dimension.
